Judge Denies Bail for Sean “Diddy” Combs

(MENAFN) A United States magistrate presiding over the criminal case of music entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs has refused to authorize his release on bail, referencing the lack of "exceptional reasons" for granting freedom before his sentencing set for October.

On Monday, US District Magistrate Arun Subramanian, serving in the Southern District of New York, determined that Combs “fails to satisfy his burden to demonstrate an entitlement to release.”

According to Subramanian, Combs did not offer adequate proof to counter fears of him being a potential flight threat and dismissed his argument that the hazardous and inadequate environment at the Metropolitan Detention Center warranted his release.

“The public outcry concerning these conditions has come from all corners,” stated Subramanian.

“But as Combs acknowledges, MDC staff has been able to keep him safe and attend to his needs, even during an incident of threatened violence from an inmate.”

Attorneys representing Combs had suggested that their client — who was found guilty last month of charges related to transportation for the purpose of prostitution — be released on a $50 million bond backed by his residence in Miami.

They assured the court that Combs would restrict his travel to Florida and New York solely for consultations with his legal team.

Despite the proposal, the judge rejected the bond package, asserting that Combs’ freedom would endanger those who accused him and citing his past drug consumption as a reason to question his reliability.

In the previous month, a jury declared Combs guilty of two charges involving transportation to engage in prostitution.

However, he was cleared of more severe allegations, such as racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which carried the possibility of multiple decades or even a lifetime behind bars.
