Attorney General Peter F. Neronha and Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore are today, on the first day of early voting for the statewide primary, reminding Rhode Islanders of important resources as they exercise their right to vote.
The Office of the Attorney General and the Rhode Island Department of State maintain a “Know Your Rights” guide, which details rights and resources Rhode Island voters can utilize while casting their ballot. This year, the offices have created a pocket-sized Guide, available online to be easily printed and distributed. The Guides are available in English and Spanish.
“The ability of our citizens to vote safely without intimidation or interference is of paramount importance,” said Attorney General Peter F. Neronha. “Voting is our most fundamental right; the right on which all other rights depend. In a time when voting rights are increasingly coming under attack, we encourage Rhode Island citizens to stay informed, and this guide will help them do so. I thank Secretary of State Amore for partnering with my Office on this initiative, and we stand ready to preserve and protect voting rights in this election.”
“Eligible Rhode Islanders should be able to cast their ballot easily and without fear of intimidation,” said Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore. “This is their right as American citizens, and Attorney General Neronha and I are committed to ensuring Rhode Islanders know their rights and have the resources they need this election cycle.”
Rhode Island voters are reminded that if they witness what they believe to be election-related crimes or unlawful conduct, or have any concerns or questions about their voting experience, they can take the following steps:
